Finding Inner Harmony
Through Music In this engaging
presentation Dr. Alexander utilizes his experience as
both a psychologist and an award winning musician and
songwriter. He will explore the transformative
power of music and how to put it to use in our lives.
Whether you prefer Brahms, the Beatles or even
the Beastie Boys, you’ll learn how to use music consciously
to create greater inner harmony – physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual. When these elements are
in tune, we approach life with our full potential. We
can make better decisions. We have more energy.
We connect with our spiritual selves. And
we’re in charge of our emotions rather than vice versa.
Hollywood’s Take on the
Hateful Patient (for professional
audiences) A seminal article by James Groves in the
New England Journal of Medicine (April 1978) described
four types of “hateful” (or difficult patients). Such
patients tend to evoke unpleasant emotions in caregivers
and, if incorrectly handled, can lead to negative outcomes.
Using clips from a variety of movies on video,
Dr. Alexander illustrates these patient types, the specific
emotions they elicit in healthcare providers and provides
tips for successful management.
